WordPress stores deleted usernames and email addresses

Did you look in the User list to see if any users exist with that user name or email address?
(WordPress does not store deleted users.)

Yes and “No users found” upon entering the previously used username/email address.

I have the Ultimate Member plugin. If WordPress does not store deleted users, does it mean it’s my user management plugin causing this?

I doubt that the plugin stores deleted users either.
The user name doesn’t necessarily have to be with the email address. They both just have to be unique in the database because when logging in, you can put either user name or email address, and then the password.

I’ve had this happen to me on a client site running UM.
I’ll need to go remind myself how I fixed this.

Hm, I can’t re-create the issue before, but I have definitely had this on my UM site last year.

Can you send the exact error msg over pls.

History of that email address is that I registered a user using that email address then I deleted it. Now I want to use that email address again but I get the error.

We could overwrite this function, but I would prefer to find out why this is included here, and where the data is being stored.

UM says that there must be a conflict from another plugin.
What other plugins do you have installed ?

I contacted UM and they advised me to check my Network WP Admin.
I didn’t know that deleted users would still be stored on the Network.
