  • @lpgalady – this plugin hasn’t been in the repository 2 years (but the original one has)…meaning if you didn’t have issues with that you could go back to it (but you wouldn’t have any of the updated features).

You’re saying your “theme” hasn’t changed at all, but the widget disappeared from front end view. The plugin works, you add the widget from the backend – it just doesn’t appear on the front end. That means some code in your site is likely surpressing it. We fix client sites with issues like this all the time (especially with the last several upgrades of WP).

If your template hasn’t changed, you’ve probabably updated WordPress and all your plugins along the way. Problems and conflicts do occur (especially with older plugins and newer WP updates). So yes, that could occur. Also, we would guess most likely you have a conflict because there hasn’t been any other complaints about the widget disapearring from the front end. If it was a widespread issue, there would be more complaints than yours (with the same issue).

Of course this issue is important (to you), but the type of troubleshooting required to fix it would be something a developer would have to get into your site to do (and find and fix the conflict(s)). If it was a widespread issue, we could of course fix it for all – but we can’t fix individual site issues.

Unless you have an issue that would affect the majority of users (or users of a popular plugin or theme), from your current description your issue is limited to your website.

Sorry we couldn’t be of more help.

yes I know how to put the widget into the sidebar etc. it shows up there on the backend – but it is not showing on the front end – needless to say, obviously it is something with the WP upgrade as nothing has changed otherwise.
    thanks anyway

@lpgalady – that’s something too we tell clients. When you say “nothing has changed otherwise” – sometimes that’s the whole issue. WordPress is software, which has to be maintained and updated. The plugins and themes you use with it also have to be maintained and updated over time (to stay current with WordPress). So if you’ve had the same theme (not updated for 2 years) and you have plugins (that haven’t had updates in a long time) combined can equal something breaking. We fixed 2 plugins just yesterday broken by WP 3.3 upgrade and theme combination.

all of the upgrades for WordPress and all of the involved plugins have been maintained all along – the theme was built by me and not needed to be updated – I built it.

wow this thread has really taken off LOL

Had this one working – but hasn’t worked in months now. Seemed to coincide with the TotalBounty takeover.

Anyone found a replacement plugin? Have no need for SMS on new posts – just need the blast text send.

try the latest 2.08 update – new features, freshly tested, works fine

    New version works. Sweet.
