• Hi there. did a fresh install a week ago – chose a free onepage theme and made a bunch of edits and changes via the gui (not backend).. anyways, uploaded it to live server.

I then manually removed all the other themes that were inactive (manually via file manager on server).

My current theme then said – parent theme missing etc.. this was a standalone theme, not a child theme –

whats the deal? its as if wordpress silently used some other theme for some of the data?

well i lost a few hours of work – in the future i will not have any themes in-active again –

any ideas how to approach this in the future without having to be so paranoid??

  • Hi,

All content is stored in wp database not in theme. If you delete your theme, all content will still be there. Content is not related to a theme so don’t worry about that in the future. ?? Just install and setup some new theme and you are good to go.

well i didnt touch anything – i literally removed the dorment theme folders and the entire current theme bombed out saying its using default values, etc…
