    Hi all,
I had strayhorn up and running fine on my site, and it just deleted itself for no apparent reason, taking me back to the “wordpress doesn’t seem to be installed on your site, try running install.php” page! What do you think happened?! Argh.

Like the files themselves are gone? Or just the database is missing? I don’t know what to tell you. It might be a problem with your host. Who are you hosted with?

I don’t know… it was actually my friend’s site, he’s new to wp and reinstalled it straight away before i could say anything! Not had this problem before so yeah I was thinking it might be the free host – staghosting. But then again, i’m with them and my site is still up!

but but… what would the host have to do with it…?

your host has access to your files, and they could’ve accidentally deleted or removed the files/database.

WordPress does not have an uninstall script. If the files disappeared, then somebody deleted or moved them.

use php myadmin and try to locate the data at least

It’s possible that your friend’s blog was deleted because if you read the terms and conditions of service for Staghosting here – https://www.staghosting.com/?page=terms

there are all sorts of things about making sure that there are special links to specific sites on your pages and so on. Perhaps these links weren’t there?

There’s also a bit about not using php/cgi scripts but I think that’s related to chat, not to a blog. However if your friend’s blog was getting a lot of traffic that might also have been a reason.

    If you read here

    https://www.staghosting.com/?page=linkus

they’re even more specific. If those links weren’t there that’s why your friend’s site was deleted.
