  • I am in the same boat!! Anyone with some answers would be great!!

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Ok I tried plugin rename & I already am running twenty eleven.
Where would all my web pages be stored? Can I FTP download then reupload after rolling back wordpress?

Where would all my web pages be stored?

    In your database.

Can I FTP download then reupload after rolling back wordpress?

Nope. Did you carry out a pre-upgrade database backup as recommended?

    (@rayvan22)

No ?? as I’ve never had issues before and since I only have 5 plugins I figured no problem

Then you cannot roll back to an earlier version of WordPress. Did you carry out all of the other steps I suggested?

I tried the rest. This one I’m not sure how to do: re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

And this one doesn’t work: https://goviralquick.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php

You need to re-upload all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress using FTP or use whatever file management application your host provides.

I uploaded via ftp everything except content & still no admin access ??
Unfortunately I think I have to delete whole site and redo, but I won’t be upgrading to 4.1 ever

    And step 4?

    Thread Starter rayvan22

    (@rayvan22)

    4.0 had worked fine

BTW thanks for trying to help I appreciate it.

@esmi Sorry to intrude but seeing I can not post another thread, I have followed all your points here and I am still coming up with a dead end. I manually uploaded 3.4, overwrote files for themes and did not touch the WP-content folder. Yes I was a dope for not backing it all up. I guess seeing that I must do a whole fresh reboot, can you offer steps on just that process?
