    Hi!

I have had the WordPress 4.51 update fail on two sites.

Both started the process when the button was selected to update
and both screens went blank. Total white pages.

I had one restored yesterday and it happened again this morning on
    this site Phenomenal Love.

    https://phenomenallove.com/

Yesterday my hosting company (Site5), Restored the files and directories for me and now that site is up and running correctly.

    Any suggestions?

I have another site that upgrade successfully.

    Thanks!

A blank screen means that PHP is crashing, typically due to a function conflict introduced by a plugin or theme.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

I de-activated all of the plugins except
Duo Security and Askmet and the upgrade went fine.

I started down the plugin list activating and I accidentally
activated a plugin I did not use and was going to delete.

It was either Call To Action or Landing Pages.

And my site is down again.
    The phenomenallove.com page isn’t working

phenomenallove.com is currently unable to handle this request.

I tried renaming the plugins.php file and that didn’t make
a difference so I named it back.

Ok, so repeat the process to manually reset your plugins: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F

This time, reactivate every plugin but the problem ones, and just delete them since you don’t plan on using them.

    That was freaking cool!

I am back into my dashboard and the plugin folder renamed back to the original name.

    Deleting those plugins now!

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

This plugin took it down again.

I am up and running SUCCESSFULLY!
