WordPress Upgrade from 1.4.x to 1.5.x breaks Upload thumbnail generation

I recently upgraded my site from wordpress 1.4.x to 1.5.2 and now the thumbnail generator no longer works. It accepts the upload and properly creates the file on the server, however the image is not resized the requested dimensions (it’s a jpg) whether I specify width manually or use the radio buttons. Any suggestions?
