Our website is currently in WordPress 4.1 and I tried updating it to WordPress 4.1.1.

After entering the FTP username and password the page becomes blank. The top and left menus of the dashboard are displayed, but the content area is blank.

Can you please help me fixing this issue.

    Best regards,
    -Sony

  • But it works now on a german installation. The zip file is named differently like wordpress-current-release-4.11-no-content.zip but I got no blank screen anymore. =)

Unfortunately yes, you’ll see two updates, both are the same though. (The only way we could work around the bug which doesn’t require you to modify files, was to cause the duplicate update to appear, it’s not ideal but was the easiest option we had available)

The zip file naming is a little different for maintenance releases than full releases, we create some special update packages to make the updates faster and more efficient, so the zip name you saw was one of them.

    hi Dion
I do NOT see 2 updates in the update screen, I see only 1!
Is it better to wait next wordpress version?

    Hello Guys,

Here’s what I get after trying to update to 4.1.1

    “Could not create directory.: wordpress/wp-admin/css

    Installation Failed”

which is an ‘improvement’ from last night where nothing happened at all. Just blank page. Don’t fancy manual update so will try again tomorrow.

I also do not see 2 updates @kwiesner

    Cheers,

    Gordon

    Works great! Thanks very much.

I can not get any plugins up dates or word press up dates and I keep getting the “Briefly unavailable for schedule maintenance. check back in a minute”
Plus I have to re enter my password every time I log in and yes I have the latest version

    4.1.1 kind of sucks ……guys !!

The problem still is not ressolved. I am using the english wordpress version, when I try to update using the auto-updater I only get “Unable to locate WordPress Root directory. Installation Failed”.

Also adding the FTP-user info to the wp-config.php as suggested by others does not work.

My site ask me to update to 4.1.1. It still has problems?

No known problems but backup your site if you are concerned about it. If you have further questions, please start a new thread.

I can’t get to my dashboard. I can login but I just get a blank white screen so I cannot use the update option. Can anyone help?

I went to my site using file manager (it is hosted on Yahoo) and even when I view the files there they are all blank. the site is still up it seems to just be the admin function. https://www.nhclub.org – any help would be appreciated. I just did this on April 20th.

This one is outdated and marked resolved – not a good place to post a new topic.
