WordPress very slow – Any suggestions?

  • Hello WP friends, my website

    is very slow right now, it takes few seconds to load every page.
    I am using 3.4.2.

    Following is installed:
    – 1 Slideshow
    – 1 Theme
    – 2 deactived themes (Twenty Ten & Twenty Eleven)
    Plugins:
    Akismet, WP-Table reloaded and 4 deactivated plugins.

    I am thinking of activating “WP-Super-Cache” however I tested it and the result was almost the same.

    Shall I contact my provider or do you have any other suggestions to speed up my site? Basicly I am not sure if speed problem is based on provider / WordPress or combination of both.

  • Hi, You can first check to see if any plugin/theme is causing this;
    Deactivate all plugins and swithc to Twenty Eleven and check the site if it’s still slow then this is 100% hosting issue if things go ok then there might be a bad function in the theme or one of the plugins that is causing the slow down.

    The initial reply is slow too. Since you are on a Apache 2 web server, give this a read about tuning up your settings on the server.

    Make sure you backup any configuration files before editing them.
