I was developing on my laptop, through MAMP, and ready to make it live, but afterwards, it asked to run the install. I went through with it, and several errors popped up. A quick Google told me to change the DB_CHARSET back to utf8, because of my older database. But it still wants to run an install, and deletes all of my content. Anywhere I should start?

  • I’ am not sure what you are doing but here is the correct steps how to do it.

    1. From your MAMP FTP WordPress files to your Server
    2. Import your WordPress Database to your MySQL Server
    3. Change your database information on your wp-config.php file
    4. If everything was done correctly your site should be up now.

Still having issues, hit me back!

Thanks for the reply, I’ll give it another shot. What I’m doing is using a duplicator plugin, using filezilla to ftp the archive file and installer.php, go to mywebsite.com/installer.php, going through the steps of linking my database, but once I go to view my website, it starts the five minute install. Then it erases all of my database content.

No dice. I guess I have to just do the install, and then export all of my content on it’s own xml file, and set up all the menus, links and post numbers correctly again.

Oh great, and reinstall every plugin. This is really terribly annoying, and don’t have enough time to re-do all of this. I’ve used Duplicator three other times without any problems.
