WordPress Warning: An unexpected error occurred

I have a new WordPress installation that I set up outside of my work proxy. The installations works fine without errors.

If I then view the same site in work I get the following error in the backend of WordPress.

‘Warning: An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums. (WordPress could not establish a secure connection to www.ads-software.com.’

I don’t know if this is a proxy issue but I can’t think of anything else that might cause this.

Does anyone know what might cause this or how to fix it.
