WordPress website size in GB

    I am backing up a relatively small site and I’m surprised that the Backup Manager plugin says it’s backing up 32 GB.

    I’m quite new to the world of WordPress but I’ve read enough to know you shouldn’t install too many plugins or use a theme with too many features. I really want to understand if this size is normal for a website.

    I’m using a child theme of Origin
    As for plug-ins I’m using:

    BackupWordpress
    Download Manager
    Custom CSS
    Blackstudio TinyCMS
    Page Builder by SiteOrigin
    Contact form 7
    Antispam Bee

    The site consists of 7 pages, no blog.

    Is 32 GB normal?

  • you probably uploaded many files on your wordpress website. even if you install 100 plugins without uploading anything else, your website can not be reached even to 1GB as the normal size pf each plugin is less than 1 MB on its own. I think you uploaded big files to your website. Please check your wp-content folder and see which files are consuming a lot of space.

    Example: i moderate a news site that’s been active for over 4 years, it has thousands and thousands of posts and every post contains min. 1 hi-res image. The site takes app. 4GB. Check with your host if you’re unsure what’s goin’ on.

    I thought so..
    I’m confused because it says:

    WordPress is backing up 32 GB
    but then the result backup it is only 132k which isn’t realistic either since I am using five photos of about 650kb each…

    Post revisions can greatly inflate the database size. Multiple uploaded images weighing in at over .5M each will also rapidly increase the overall “size” of a site.
