WordPress with 8000 pages / editing impossible

  • My wordpress installation contains now more then 8000 pages and editing 1 pages is impossible at the moment. Because the pages-list is so long (what is loading in the page-edit, editing is not possible online)

    At the moment I edit the pages by copying-and pasting the content from my online pages to my local-installtion. It is working, but i think there should be a way to edit the edit-page file, so it is faster loading the pages.

    These pages aren’t working at the moment because of the amount of pages:
    -loading the page-overview
    -editing a page
    -loading the read-options

    Is there a solution for this problem?

  • First of why do you have over 8,000 pages?

    Is it your server / hosting that is struggling? May need to upgrade your hosting package.

    No, it is not the hosting package… even on local I have problems with it. I just export a query.

    Why i have 8000 pages?, because i have a moviesite and every movie has his own unique URL (page) and also get cached this way. The movies come from sources like Youtube. I made my own admin-panel (plugin) to generate those pages.

    Going to another provider doesn’t solve my problem. Does somebody know what i need to adjust to set a max on how many pages get loaded when editing a post (i mean the pages where you can set the parent-page).

    I think that is the reason it is so slow. He make a searchlist with 8000+ pages… If i can limit these, my problem is solved i guess…
