• Hi there,
I’m on a Windows7 64bit machine. I installed XAMPP to run and test WordPress locally. Everything works just fine.
I copied a theme I bought and the plugins manually into the right folder and it’s running inside WP.
The only problem I have: I tried to install the demo content of the theme.
With Tools > Import > WordPress. It doesn’t work.
    I get an error message.
Can I copy the xml demo file manually? To which folder exactly?
    Thanks for helping out!
    Cheers,
    Michael

  • If the demo content came with the theme you purchased, there is a pretty good chance the import instructions will be included in an FAQ or in the theme use instructions located a separate directory – usually named “docs” or something similar – inside of the archive package you downloaded.

I’ve found the solution. I didn’t know I have to install a plugin called “wordpress-importer”. now it’s working:)
    I
    Manual install

If you do not want to provide FTP credentials to WordPress you can manually install the WordPress Importer plugin on your local machine following these steps.

Download the WordPress Importer plugin to your computer.
    Unzip the plugin file.
Copy the folder called “wordpress-importer” to your site’s /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
Activate the plugin on the Plugins page.

You should now be able to use Tools->Import->Wordpress to import your XML file.
