• WordPress, for some reason, will no longer allow me to upload any media files with any browser on my iMac. Nothing has changed, it just stopped working. I can log into my account, but when I try to upload media (picture or audio file), it won’t add them and then my website cannot be accessed for several minutes. This issue happens in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome (all the latest versions). It previously worked without any issue. After three hours on tech support with Apple, here is what was tried, along with some other clues. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated:

-Cache was cleared everywhere and browsers were re-set. All history was deleted. Problem continues.
-I have disabled all plug-ins. Problem continues.
-After issues with Firefox and Safari, I downloaded Chrome, which worked initially, then stopped working.
    -Internet was re-set. Problem continues.
-Nothing has changed about the computer – this worked properly two weeks ago, then I went on vacation (computer turned off) then came back and it wouldn’t work. Nothing changed about the computer in that interim period.
-IMPORTANT: None of these problems exist on my Macbook Pro, which interacts perfectly with WordPress (Safari and Firefox), uploads media, and allows me to update the site.
-In preferences for all browsers, all settings are exactly the same between both the iMac and Macbook Pro. Problem continues.
-I am running 10.8.4 as an OS, WordPress is 3.5.2 with all plug-ins updated, and all browsers are updated versions.

    HELP…thanks.

  • Do you have Onyx? If not, I suggest you get it from MacUpdate and install it. Let it run the SMART verify test, ignore volume structure test (takes a long time). Then go to Automation tab and check every box except the SMART Status, Structure of the system files, Appearance of folder contents, and the Spotlight Index. Then click Execute. After it runs, you need to restart your computer. I use this whenever anything starts being wonky and it usually cleans up whatever the problem was.

Are you able to upload pictures or files into other site like flickr or picasa. Does uploading work there from this imac ?

To sleeplessinDC: thanks – quick question. I am a novice when it comes to this stuff. If i do this, is there any way I might harm the computer? Running that kinda stuff always scares me.

No, it won’t harm your computer. It will help it by cleaning out garbage left behind. Before you run any cleaning app, you should make a backup of your hard disc just in case. I use SuperDuper to copy it to an external disc drive.
