WordPress xml export import not working

  • Hi
    Exported xml file from using >tools >export >all
    Tried importing to
    xml file size 3.2 MB
    Get a long list of failed to import starting with:
    Failed to import Media “favicon”
    Front page of site states: Nothing found
    Tried to change all users to admin and got an ever longer list of failed import.
    The only thing imported are the categories
    Tried changing the $table_prefix to = ‘wp_’; but got a prompt to install WordPress
    Cannot find anything in the forums about this.

    Tried changing the $table_prefix to = wp_; but got a prompt to install WordPress

    That sounds about right if you change the prefix. Part of that is because WordPress uses that to not only create the database but to connect to it as well. It’s how it gets your information like username, posts, pages.

    As for the importing issue, I know I have a few questions to ask:

    1. Where are you importing to?
    2. How many posts/pages were exported?
    3. What theme is active?
    4. Have you tried deactivating all plugins?
