This is what I am getting all of a sudden.
Not Found
The requested URL /wp-login.php was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
have you changed anything recently with your WordPress url?
seems that your link includes the /wp/ sub-directory as in https://aacwinnipeg.mb.ca/wp/, while your site tries to lookup things partially under https://aacwinnipeg.mb.ca
possibly review https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Giving_WordPress_Its_Own_Directory
But would that effect the look of the login page as well?. I can’t even log in.
I tried to link my home tab to a different website, and I think that’s where I messed up. Now I can’t even log in. Is there someone at WP.org that can help me fix this please?
Is there any other way I can get in other then dashboard to change the following.
WordPress Address (URL)
Site Address (URL)
I really need help. I hate to have to start from scratch. I know whats wrong. I just can’t fix it.
Don’t panic. Relax, someone is bound to answer your question in due time.
You didn’t need to install WordPress in a subdirectory like /wp/. But if you want to do that, read the link that Michael gave you to make sure you do it correctly.
Alternatively, move WordPress into the root folder.
Yes, there is another way to edit your site’s address. You use phpMyAdmin by logging into your hosting company’s control panel. Read https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Changing_The_Site_URL especially the section “Changing the URL directly in the database” which gives instructions.
Thanks Jason King. I’m not the one who built this. The folders are in another website that is not WP. But I just found ot that my Data base needs up dating. So were going to do that, and regards to phpMyAdmin. I don’t have one. I’m hoping once things are all fixed, it will not be to late to set one up. But thank you. ??
I did the following and I still can’t log in and I get a white screen when I try to go to the WP site.
Changing the URL directly in the database
If you know how to access phpMyAdmin on your host, then you can edit these values directly to get you up and running again.
1. Backup your database and save the copy off-site.
2. Login to phpMyAdmin.
3. Click the link to your Databases.
4. A list of your databases will appear. Choose the one that is your WordPress database.
5. All the tables in your database will appear on the screen.
6. From the list, look for wp_options. Note: The table prefix of wp_ may be different if you changed it when installing.
7. Click on the small icon indicated as Browse.
8. A screen will open with a list of the fields within the wp_options table.
9. Under the field option_name, scroll down and look for siteurl.
10. Click the Edit Field icon which usually is found at the far left at the beginning of the row.
11. The Edit Field window will appear.
12. In the input box for option_value, carefully change the URL information to the new address.
13. Verify this is correct and click Go to save the information.
14. You should be returned to your wp-options table.
15. Look for the home field in the table and click Edit Field. Note There are several pages of tables inside wp_options. Look for the > symbol to page through them.
16. In the input box for option_value, carefully change the URL information to the new address.
17. Verify this is correct and click Go to save the information.
18. Delete the folder wp-content/cache (this is a new folder added with WordPress 2.0).
19. That is it.You said “The folders are in another website that is not WP.”
Why? I think you need to put the folders and files in the correct places before anything else will work.
You are bound to get a white screen if they’re out of place.
Download WordPress again. Don’t change anything, just look at where files and folders go. The wp-content, wp-admin and wp-includes folders should be together in the root directory, along with some files such as wp-config.php and index.php.
Maybe take a screenshot of your folder structure and share it here.
Did you read the link that Michael gave you?
Thanks everyone. Looks like we are getting things all in order. Thanks again.
