This isn’t about WordPress itself, but rather the www.ads-software.com site. For some reason, when I tried logging in under another client this evening, I received an invalid login message. I though it odd since I logged in the other day and posted in the ‘How-To and Troubleshooting’ forum.

I’ve tried doing a password reset with no luck. I get the reset E-Mail and the new password, but when I try to log in, I still get the invalid login message.

I really would like to log in under the proper client when posting.

    Thanks.
    Rick

Hm, that’s rather odd. Is https://www.ads-software.com/support/bb-login.php where you did the reset?

    Yes, that’s the correct URL.

I just tried it again with no luck.

I’ve tried typing the new password manually, as well as doing a copy and paste. I still get the login failed error.

Fixed. I was the victim of this case-sensitive crap on the user ID.

As a programmer, I consider it sloppy/lazy coding to allow a user to enter something such as a user ID, force it to lower (or upper) case when stuffed into the database, and not do the exact same thing when the user logs in.

I’m convinced that todays’ programmers are so used to using libraries and canned functions, that they have forgotten about the little things.

Of course, the whole mixed case debacle started with Unix and perpetrated to this day where aa, Aa, aA, and AA are all different. This is one area where DOS and subsequently Windows gets it right.

I took over a project once where the original owner was on a Mac. They named all of the images similarly, changing only the case. You can imagine the nightmare that that became.

(I’ll get off of my soapbox now!)

    Again, thanks for your help.
