• I got it work in the group when create new topic, this is so helpful plugin for me!! Bit thanks! But why the icon is not showing in “comment” and “reply”?
when I try to add directly [bpfb_video]… [/bpfb_video], I can see the video from Dashboard under Activity, but in the page it shows blank. Is something be overwritten? Could be issue of plugin or the theme I used? Currently I am using theme 2014.

  • Hey viivihuang,

    How are you doing today?

Unfortunately ActivityPlus is designed to work only when adding new activity into activity feed and not in comment/reply section which is why you can’t see it there.

I can see the video from Dashboard under Activity, but in the page it shows blank. Is something be overwritten?

Not really sure what exactly are you referring here, would you mind adding a screenshot so I can better understand the issue?

    Please let me know ??

    Cheers,
    Bojan

    Thanks a lot! ??

    Hey again viivihuang,

Thanks for the clarification, I was under impression that this is related to the Activity post itself and not comment/reply section.

As I mentioned above ActivityPlus does not work for comment/reply section, I’ve tested above and you’re right, if you add ActivityPlus video shortcode in the comment section it will not be executed on the front but the video will still be displayed in the backend. This should be limitation of BuddyPress rather then ActivityPlus as the same would happen with any shortcode added in the BuddyPress comment section in Activity feed.

If you want adding this shortcode to work in comment section in Activity feed I’d have to suggest seeking assistance on BuddyPress forum as this would most likely require editing BuddyPress files.

    Best regards,
    Bojan

Thanks a lot for the quick reply and suggestion. I will go dig in BP forum see if can get more clue. ??

If you have additional questions please let me know ??

hey viivihuang, have you found a solution for the issue?
i had a look at the BP forum but cannot find your question there, and i’d really like to offer the same functionality in comments too…

clearly whoever develops BuddyPress related solutions has some issues with comments (today i found out comments, unlike new activities, do not trigger notifications)… as if commenting is not crucial to social activities… ??

No, I haven’t had time to study more about this issue lately. But It is one important function at least in our case… please kindly let me know if you have any better solution. ??

sorry viivihuang, i haven’t found a solution to it either yet.

i may try a couple of plugins for “standard” WordPress comments, but i doubt they’ll work on BuddyPress as it seems the lack of support for anything BP-comment related (attachments, but also notifications) derives from the main BP code, and plugins for it just continue down that (absurd, imho) path…

i’ll make sure to notify all people i’ve bothered in WP and BP forums if i manage to find a decent solution. it’s not looking promising, though, as BP team and plugins developers (even WPMU) are just acknowledging the issue without offering any hope of a solution.

(if anyone reads this, hey, i’d pay to see comments treated as in any PROPER social network software! ??

    Hey guys,

@maxgx I understand that this would be pretty useful to have in comments/reply section, I wasn’t just acknowledging that, the thing is that is not an issue/bug, the plugin is not designed to do that so this would rather be a feature or something that would need to be implemented in the plugin. As much as we’d like to implement all features our members ask for we simply don’t have enough man power to do so, I’ll pass this to our developers and if there is enough interest for this on WPMU DEV forum by other members we’ll consider it for future development.

    Have a nice day!

    Best regards,
    Bojan

    hey Bojan,
sorry but i didn’t mean you in particular were acknowledging the missing feature, but that’s what i’m gathering from reading the various reports from users and the answers from the BuddyPress team and your colleagues too with regards to the lack of some important (i’d say pivotal) features on comments in particular.

as BuddyPress advertise itself as a “modern, robust, and sophisticated social network software”, and yours is a plugin extending the features of such “modern, robust, and sophisticated social network software”, i’m just pointing out that this “modern, robust, and sophisticated social network software” and its extensions are lacking on quite obvious features that a truly “modern, robust, and sophisticated social network software” ought to have.

have a great day, and always a big thank you for all the hard work you do on your solutions.

Thank you for the feedback and sharing your thoughts ??

I hope we’ll see improvement in that field in the future.
