• I run both the free and the paid for version of Wordfence, and recommend it to everyone with a WordPress website.

In short, it just works. Being able to block counties and IPs with the paid version helps slow down some attackers.

However, I am not impressed thus far with the new version 7 interface. It appears to be another example of developers dumbing down the UI at the expense of functionality.

Bottom line. I still recommend it, but I’m not as happy with it as I was – so just 4 stars.

Notes on Edits. Edited in the light of feedback (see below), it seems all the previous options are still available, but I still dislike the new interface which hides options which were previously in plain sight. I’m finding it very hard to remember where to find items that I want to change. Previously all I had to do was keep on scrolling down until I came to what I wanted. I’m sure I’ll get used to it in time, and I wouldn’t want this personal preference to put anyone off of installing the plugin.

  • Hi Gary! Thanks for the review and thanks for your feedback. We have not added or removed any features. All the same functionality exists both for free and premium users.

If you need help familiarizing yourself with the new user interface, perhaps this document can help?

Again, thanks for sharing your thoughts. That’s always appreciated. Hope you have a good rest of the week.

Review updated — thanks for the very fast feedback. I’ve now been able to find and apply the change I needed.
