Looks like a great plugin! Was about to install Edit Flow before I came across PublishPress. I’ve just installed it and had a play around and I can see it’s got many features to assist post/page getting from draft to published in a collaborative workspace.

My main reason to use this plugin is to introduce a workflow on existing pages/posts. So that ‘section editors’ can edit the page and it gets put into ‘pending review’ and the old copy is still facing on the public site. Then the admin or ‘content publishers’ group will be able to publish the page/post and send changes live.

Right now, if you change the status of any existing post/page it will then return an error 404 page on the front end. This just won’t work for me. Seems this plugin just supports a content creation workflow but not for editing existing content. Is there any possible solution to this?

Perhaps a page/post clone (of existing page) needs to be made whilst the page is being edited and then merged together when updates are finally approved and published. The BU versions plugin has done something similar to this (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/bu-versions/) but it lacks the editorial workflow and permissions.

    Hi rarcher30,

Cool, thank you indeed for the feedback.

Yes, that is an interesting problem. The good news is that we already have planned a new add-on: Revision Management for PublishPress, allowing users to submit changes to published content, scheduling or approving them.

I still can’t say when it will be available, but if you want, we can send you a beta package for tests as soon as we have one. Just send us an email to [email protected].

    Kind regards,

That sounds great but I’m looking for the functionality ASAP. I’m working with university research teams with many writers in a Multisite and they are looking for enterprise like publishing system with all the checks and balances. I just talked to oasis workflow and they have already used this system. It does appear that your plugin, oasis workflow and edit flow are all very similar (I’m aware your plugin is a fork of edit flow). What do you think an ETA on your feature would be? I need to make a decision soon or develop my own custom plugin for our workflow.

    Thanks rarcher30

Yes, we can move quickly on this.

Every time we add one of these features, the most important thing is a motivated user who can test and give feedback. If you’re willing to do this, we could have the feature ready in about 7 to 10 days.

Could you email us via [email protected] if you’re keen?

Hi there. I would be happy to test this feature out and give you some feedback. I’ve got a number of web users/editors in my team that who I could get to assist in testing. They are very keen for this kind of product to become available. Will send you an email.
