Getting an error in the Action Box > Side Content area, as well as an error after install. Really looking forward to trying this plugin. Wanting to upgrade to Pro as well, but need to verify with Lite version and WP 3.5 first.

    Here’s the error:

    <br /><b>Warning</b>: Illegal string offset 'aside-image-url' in <b>/homepages/23/d150338265/htdocs/laneengineers.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/magic-action-box/views/metaboxes/type/template-aside-image-settings.php</b> on line <b>5</b><br />

Hi, thank you for trying out Magic Action Box.

Could you write out the exact steps you did from the time you installed the plugin? And I assume you just installed the plugin today so you’re running the latest version which is 2.9.3.

Also, is this the only warning you are getting?

As for WP3.5, this is not a WP3.5 issue as this is basically means: the value the plugin is trying to get from a collection of values does not exist.

And yes the plugin should work with WP3.5 as it doesn’t use function that have been deprecated by the WP Update and it’s been a week since the update now and so far you’re the first to ask ??

So it’d be helpful to have the steps you made.

Thanks Ryann. Glad to hear that it’s not a 3.5 issue. I’ve already had my fill of those. ??

Here’s a link to an active page with MAB installed: https://dev.laneengineers.com/structural-engineering/

As far as the install, it was a standard installation through the “Add Plugin” function in the Dashboard. Though after my first message above I did delete the plugin and reinstall manually via FTP just to see if the result was different. The result was exactly the same.

There was another error message right after install the first time, but it cleared and has not reappeared since. I’m also seeing errors in the width and height boxes of the “Image Dimensions” area under General Settings > Side Content. Error is below.

    <br /><b>Warning</b>: Illegal string offset 'aside-image-width' in <b>/homepages/23/d150338265/htdocs/laneengineers.com/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/magic-action-box/views/metaboxes/type/template-aside-image-settings.php</b> on line <b>15</b><br />

do these messages appear only when you create a *new* action box?

because I am aware that the plugin will generate PHP notices (but not warnings though as we always fix those) something about “uninitialized string offset…” and stuff but nothing serious.. we will get around to cleaning that up in the next release or two.

do these messages still appear after you’ve “saved” the action box?

also, these messages only appear in the backend right? not something that the public would see. I would think so since I didn’t see it in the URL you gave here.

Yes, only under a new action box. I have cleared them and the plugin seems to function normally. It’s strange.

Also yes, the messages only appear in the backend, not on the live site.

the messages are php notices that only appear when you first create an action box due to missing keys in the array since it hasn’t been saved yet. It is not fatal but I understand that it isn’t nice and will get it fixed in the next updates. But yes, the plugin will still work as intended.
