• Hey support forum pals.

After much internet research I cannot find the answers I need, and I have a feeling they’re pretty simple.

I currently have a website through wordpress.com, the domain name and servers are also on the .com site.
I want to move the site to a shared host and use wp.org to update it/have more control.

Is there a way I can get hosting/start a wp.org site for the site while the wp.com site is still live? I’d like to have that running until I work out the kinks/really settle into a theme with it.
I’m new to wp.org so I’d like to have a way that’s easy for me to understand/use without wanting to rip out my hair.

    Thanks ??

If you haven’t already read this page detailing the differences between the two I highly suggest you do. ??

If you still have questions/concerns ask away. I know on the WordPress.com forums they might be able to with some answers as well. ??

    Hi Jose!

Yeah, I know about the difference between the two, which is why I want to move ??

I just wanted to know if there was an easy way to keep my current wordpress.com site ,which is domain & hosted through wordpress.com, while I work on getting a www.ads-software.com version up and sort of learn the ins and outs of wordpress.og before launching.

    Thanks ??

Ask your hosts if they can provide you with a temporary url for your self-hosted site.

    Hey bigheartbeat,
I sugest to test WP on local server (LAMP, XAMPP, WAMP etc) to get experience.

First install local server softwares & then test WP on it.

You can easily import & export WP contents using plugins.
