    Hi there,

I was wondering if there was any workaround the request for us to have a masonry grid layout of all my posts using the first image within the post than the ‘featured’ image.
Not only is the use of featured image extra work. It also displays the image twice on my posts.

Can this be done. I am in great need of help here.

    Cheers,

    Nick

    Hey,

The plugin was designed for featured images, as in most situations I’ve encountered it’s far easier and less invasive to set a featured image than an image on the post. Unfortunately, by the sounds of it, that does not apply to your site.

Is there a workaround? – not really to be honest. That would require a significant change to the plugin. If your proficient with PHP you could modify the render_post() function in the plugin’s main PHP file to make the variable $thumbnail = what your after, rather than the actual thumbnail. But as the plugin is no longer dealing with thumbnails, a large number of the parameters and features are no longer valid and may have to be turned off.

But if you do that, may I suggest using the code of the next update pre-release that is available on the Plugin’s Download page as the code there has been far improved and will be cleaner, less buggy, faster, and much easier to work with.

Also, make sure that the plugin doesn’t get updated after this, or you’ll lose your changes. Perhaps changing the header information will disconnect it from future versions in the repository.

    Cheers

    Hi Bortpress,

    Thank you for the suggestion.
I have decided that a better way to go about this is to edit style.css of my theme via a child theme to hide the featured image from displaying on my blog posts so all is well.
