@pputzer, would simple “the_title” or “the_content” filters make the trick?

We did not apply these hooks because it doesn’t make sense in a list, but on each item we can imagine to add. It shouldn’t impact perfs.

I’ve not looked at your code in detail, but applying the_content to the whole list would probably be the best approach, yes.
