Works!
-
I just installed this and, yeah, it works! You just have to get a YouTube API key set up in your Google Search Console (perhaps some screenshots and more detailed instructions could be included in the plugin’s backend to help out, especially given that Google has just updated its search console interface a couple times recently).
Anyway, once you get the key, you just enter it into the WP YouTube Lyte plugin’s backend, choose your options, and bam, faster page load and nice looking player.
A couple of other benefits:
-You can easily center your videos. With normal YouTube embed in WordPress, they seem to float left, and it’s a pain to try to center them. This plugin lets you just check an option and they are all nicely centered. Sweet.
-Might help clear up some js errors on your page. The reason I was looking for a plugin like this is because I was getting some annoying js errors that seemed to be related to the standard YouTube embed. This might cause some problems with your plugins. I’m not sure if this will resolve all my issues, but I did a quick script debug check and I’m no longer getting the js embed errors, so I think it has addressed this. I’m hoping my other plugins will benefit from this as well, as they seemed to be impacted by those previous errors–we’ll see! ??
