• Because I was skeptical, I tried this plugin on Chrome, Firefox and Safari (on a mac). Also tried it using WordPress 4.0 on a custom theme I was working on as well as TwentyThirteen. So far it appears to work as advertised. Can’t complain. It’s a pretty nifty feature.

If you’re using the plugin for accessibility, however, the GSpeech icon to read the text when you’re using the {gspeech} code isn’t highlighted via keyboard. So if I’m tabbing my way through the site, and I’ve manually put the speaker icon after text that I want read out loud, it skips over it (tested in TwentyThirteen).

If a user doesn’t have a mouse or can’t use a traditional mouse to highlight text and is using somewhat of a tabbing system to go through the site, then GSpeech will not be available to them. Hope this gets fixed if this is going to continue using the accessibility tag.

So it works. Just not totally accessible.
