• Thank you for this very useful plug-in. I always backup manually my DB and files, but was tempted to give this a try. It seems to work fine, it uploads backups to AWS S3 nicely where you can optionally put them in cold storage but the plugin commits the cardinal sin of spamming your WP Admin dashboard with too many huge ‘upgrade to pro’ style banners.

When you use WP, you of course accept the possibility of free plugins doing this but imagine if every plugin you had installed did it. There would be so many intrusive ads, it would be difficult to find your actual settings! Ads often betray your privacy and security too, they are most unwelcome in the admin dashboard area and are not policed. This is why I believe in the unwritten, cardinal rule; though shall not ever spam your client’s WP Admin dashboard.

Afterall, if your product is good and priced fairly, you don’t need to do that or you need to rethink your offering. Just provide a link or some brief text. Or at least restrict the big banners to the plug-in’s main settings page only.

Every time I see the banners when I switch to another page in my WP dashboard, I want to uninstall the plug-in, not upgrade!

EDIT: Changed review from 3 to 5 stars. On my PC I now only see 1 banner which is on the WordPress Updates page. Originally on my iPad, I was seeing several of them on various pages including the homepage and media library. I have no idea why.

    Hi Graham,

Thanks for your feedback. Please can you clarify what you mean by “too many” banners? There should only be one, which you can dismiss with one click. Were you seeing something else?

    Hi David,

I have changed my review from 3 to 5 stars. On my Windows 11 PC I now only see 1 banner which is on the WordPress Updates page. Originally on my iPad with Safari browser, I was seeing several of them on various pages including the homepage and media library but I have no idea why. Perhaps it was some kind of caching issue.

    Many thanks.

    Hi Graham,

Thank you for your kindness. Seeing multiple is strange – if you see that again, do send a screenshot, as I can’t guess how that might happen (not had it reported before).

    David
