• NOTE: I just left this as a review of the plugin and then found this support page. If you can help me fix this problem, I’d LOVE to give this plugin a higher rating and actually use it!! I’m sick of trying different weather plugins and being disappointed each time…

    ***

I think I’ve tried every weather plugin out there and this one was my favorite – looks great, lots of easy ways to customize, easy to set up for my city without needing a special key…lovin’ it.

Until I tried to load the website on my iPhone. Totally freaked my iPhone out. In Safari, the page loading line across the top of the page would flash across and disappear, again and again. This state of trying to load but not succeeding continued for several minutes. Thinking something strange had happened, I closed Safari, rebooted my phone, and tried it again. Same thing.

Just to test it out, I disabled the Wunderground plugin. My website started working again instantly. We’re talking within a second or two. Just to make sure that wasn’t a fluke, I tested it again – enabled the plugin and then tried to load my website. Same thing. Looks great on my laptop, totally breaks my website on my phone.

I’d LOVE to use this plugin!!!! After literally months of trying different plugins, I thought I’d finally found The One I could use on my site. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME!

    Okay, begging done. ??

PS Every time I deactivated the Wunderground plugin, my plugin called Background Manager deactivated too. ??? I have no idea why that would happen but it happened Every Single Time so I’m going to guess that it wasn’t just a fluke. However, when I would activate the Wunderground plugin, the Background Manager plugin would NOT just automatically reactivate too, so I don’t know why it would happen in reverse.

Playing with it further, if I keep Background Manager deactivated and only activate the weather plugin, then my site works without a problem on my iPhone and on my computer. So the conflict is definitely between these two plugins. (Link for Background Manager: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/background-manager/. Great plugin – this is the first time I’ve had a problem with it).

I have it set that the Background Manager plugin shouldn’t even work when viewing the website on a mobile device because the screen is so small, it doesn’t show anyway and it only slows down the loading of the website. So it REALLY doesn’t seem like it should affect the website on my phone. ???

But just to see what happened, I enabled the Background Manager plugin for mobile devices along with enabling the Wunderground plugin and tried it again. Website still doesn’t work, so I disabled the Background Manager plugin for mobile websites again.

Just to see what happened, I tried having both plugins enabled and pulled up the website on a Kindle Fire. Does not work at all – same as on an iPhone.

I’m at a loss. I’m happy to give you login credentials via email if you think looking at my admin panel would help.

    Many thanks,

I decided that it might be easier to find a different background manager that did what I wanted it to, than it would be to find yet another weather plugin. I ended up finding Random Backgrounds (https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/random-backgrounds/) and it not only doesn’t conflict with Wunderground, my website now loads faster than it did before. Yay!

So, I’m going to mark this thread as being resolved. Just know that your plugin and Background Manager don’t play nicely together, in case you get something similar happening to someone else.
