    Some WP plugins pump heaps of JS and CSS files into the source. This plugins helped me to reduce the number of page requests from 58 to 40 with one click!
    I reloaded a couple of times and checked the time in Firefox DevTools – so not very scientific, but it reduced the (complete) loading time from an everage 11s to 7s.
