Works perfectly as advertised

  • This plugin definitely works as advertised. However, do not mistaken it for something that will do wonders. A good understanding of the web and formats of pictures / graphics being used will really help with your website being fast. It is particularly useful for blogs that may have “technically challenged” writers/contributors that upload pictures directly from their cell phone or DSL camera.

  • Thank you for using Smush and taking the time to write a review! That is some great advice for new users, especially when it comes to resizing and prepping images for upload. Is there a suggestion I could pass along to the developers that would make this a 5-star plugin for you?

    Hello;

    This is likely difficult; but to make this a completely amazing plugin would be a screen where you can see a list of all images and the amount the plugin has compressed the images; however, would also include a green / yellow / red lights for how large the image still is. I have been working on websites since lynx was a thing and everything was simply text. A way for users to understand that the plugin has done all the work it can with a 6G image and that the user needs to use something like Photoshop or Gimp or other to make the image significantly smaller using either other formats, ect.

    So something to educate the users. Or even a link to a blog post that you would / should have on your website.

    Thank you for the great feedback! The color coded messages would be a great addition. It got me thinking of other common issues we could warn users about. I will pass these suggestions along to our development team.
