I try to use redirection on a WP Bitnami instance, but as I make the change, I end up getting a 404 error.

I’m trying to redirect blog.mydomain.com to mydomain.com/blog but I’m not having success.

The funniest thing is that if you return to the previous condition, everything makes sense again. I can’t locate the problem. Any suggestion?

How are you trying to perform the redirect? How are you not having success? What do you mean by returning to the previous condition and it making sense?

    Hi @jphnny5

    Thank you for the return.
I’m accessing the Site menu and in Relocate to domain: I enter the redirection I would like, which is https://mydomain.com/blog, looking like this
https://blog.mydomain.com => https://domain.com/blog and press the Update button

The redirection occurs, if I access blog.mydomain.com it goes to domain.com/blog, but my WordPress simply does not load, and I receive the 404 page.

So I don’t know if what I’m doing is right. I’m sorry, but I’m just trying out WP

You say that the redirect works, but then you get a 404. So the redirect is working?

Yes, redirection works. But I get the 404 error.
I’m sorry again, but am I using the plugin the wrong way?

I’m still trying to figure out as your information seems to be contradictory.

If the redirect works then I don’t understand what the problem is? Where is the 404? Is that on your target URL? Redirection has no control over that and you will need to make sure it works.

    Thanks again for your responses.

I’m simply trying to make it so that on the same server, I can direct requests for blog.mydomain.com (my DNS record) to mydomain.com/blog.

There are no significant errors in the Apache log, and I can’t think of what I can do to make this redirection go smoothly. I’ve even edited Bitnami’s .vhosts files without success. There’s something about this process that I can’t figure out.

Sure, but you said it was working and is redirecting. Where is the 404?

When I do the redirect process through the plugin, when I type the url blog.mydomain.com the browser pulls it to mydomain.com/blog, and at that time, instead of seeing the WP page, I get the 404 error.

Ok, so you are correctly redirected to the target URL? As I mentioned above, at that point Redirection is not involved. You will need to fix the 404 on the target URL. That is not caused by Redirection.

    Okay, I’ll check.

    Thanks
