Lets see if other users complain about it. I’ve tested on both desktop and mobile (iPhone) platforms and I haven’t noticed any significant difference.

The new, non-Flash based world map works excruciatingly slowly for me in Firefox 19 (and now still in 20) as well, but it does a good job in Chrome (whatever the current version is). So the issue might be due to the way Firefox handles Javascript, SVG or HTML5, or a combination of those?

You are correct, Firefox’ JS engine is known in the community to be way behind Chrome’s when performance is compared ?? Even IE9’s engine seems to be faster on the JS map.

I think we found a workaround: replacing the hi-res map with the low res one. Boundaries are less precise, but apparently that makes a huge difference with Firefox. We will add the new map to 3.0.1 which should be released later today.

    Cheers,

Please let me know if version 3.1 solves the issue for you!
