WORST FOR SEO!!!

  • I bought this plugin. I thought it was great until I tested my site speed on GTmetrix. I had lots of errors (mostly javascript due to this plugin):
    1. Defer parsing of JavaScript – 373.4KiB of JavaScript is parsed during initial page load. Defer parsing JavaScript to reduce blocking of page rendering.
    = Listed apis.google.com and Facebook share_button.php errors. (I only have Facebook and Google shares enabled)

    2. Avoid a character set in the meta tag – The following resources have a character set specified in a meta tag. Specifying a character set in a meta tag disables the lookahead downloader in IE8. To improve resource download parallelization, move the character set to the HTTP Content-Type response header.
    = Listed apis.google.com and Facebook share_button.php errors. (I only have Facebook and Google shares enabled)

    Because of this, I have around 8 seconds page load time compared to my homepage (a page without social locker) with only 1+ page load speed!
    Now I know why my rankings plummeted! Google punishes all sites with slow websites, particularly with JS errors.
    I uninstalled this plugin and my speed dramatically increased! No JS errors now! BEWARE!!!

    Hi,

    As you can see these errors are located in apis.google.com and share_button.php. These files are not parts of the Social Locker plugin. It’s a part of the social buttons provided with respective social networks.

    The social buttons are created after loading of a page. So it cannot be a reason why your page had the low loading speed.

    Probably it was a conflict with other plugins you’re using
