• This plugin isn’t intuitive, I’ve lost months of work, just because the plugin put the new site into the old, and corrupts the login. The plugin doesn’t have an undo button, neither.

    Hey,

I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially given the impact on your work. Our plugin is designed to migrate content seamlessly from one site to another without overwriting or corrupting login details. It’s important to verify that the correct source and destination URLs are entered to avoid any issues.

From what we gather, It’s possible you may have started the migration from the new site and mistakenly set the old site as the destination, instead of the other way around. By doing this, you’ve overridden the login credentials of the older website with the newer one & hence you cannot log in.

To prevent data loss, we recommend creating a full site backup before any migration. Many hosting providers also keep regular backups, so they may have a recent version of your site available to restore.

We appreciate your feedback regarding an undo option and are actively looking into ways to make the plugin even more user-friendly. Your input is invaluable as we work to improve the experience for all users.

I’ve solved the issue… how? I had an AIO migration backup, and it was restored correctly. The mistake was caused by poor design in your UI. I copied the key from the old site to the new one. I blame you because there are no warnings or a defined section, like “import” or “export.” Thanks for stating the obvious in your response. If a plugin doesn’t work, that’s fine, but if the plugin crashes your site and there’s no undo button, it must be the worst plugin ever.

    Hey,

I’m glad to hear you were able to restore your site using the AIO migration backup. I completely understand how frustrating this experience must have been, and I appreciate you sharing the details of what happened. Your feedback about the UI and clarity of “import” and “export” options is very valuable, and we take it seriously.

Our goal with the plugin is to streamline the migration process, but it’s clear that enhancing the user interface to prevent accidental data overwrites would be a positive improvement. We’re actively exploring ways to improve this, including potential warnings, improved labeling, and possibly an undo feature to make the process even safer and more intuitive.

In the meantime, if you have further suggestions or need any assistance with future migrations, please feel free to reach out at support[@]migrateguru[.]com
