• Hi,
I am a long time user of the themes from the developer wpweaver, namely weaver II, Aspen and more recently weaver Xtreme.
I am also an active support member for these themes here and on the developer forum.

A couple of days ago I posted in the support forum of Weaver II and Aspen to inform users that with the arrival of the newer generation Weaver Xtreme, these themes would enter end of life, and that Xtreme should probably be their first choice for a new site, or if this it is the first time they are considering a theme from wpweaver.

To make sure that people who would land on the older Weaver II and Aspen theme pages would be sure to be made aware of that, I did both a support post and a review.

The next day, all my new posts / review were deleted (I suppose by admins on this forum), without even getting a question from them or a notification.
Worse, I had an extensive review of the new Weaver Xtreme theme that I posted a while back, and that was also removed.

I do not see any justification for any of that as I am working closely with the developer and am only working to help its users, so I would greatly appreciate to know what prompted that somewhat aggressive and unexplained action.

If posting such information aimed at helping users make the right choice between several themes from the same developer is considered a violation of some rule, I would like to know which one.

And in any case I do not see how that justified removing an old review I had posted on the Xtreme theme.

I hope I will hear from the administrator that took the above described action.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I didn’t delete your posts, but I can see why they were deleted. You were advertising*.

I’ve undeleted your original review, but am tempted to leave the rest of the comments on that thread deleted. You shouldn’t get into discussions regarding the pro versions of your theme.

I’m also going to label you properly as a Weaver contributor so that your reviews are more transparent.

So, I think your original review was deleted in relation to your recent reviews. We need to trust in people because people have the ability to edit their review at any time.

    Thank for undeleting the Review.

I dont believe I was advertising a commercial theme. Weaver Xtreme is a free theme on wordpress.

If you can see my posts, can you tell me what part makes you think I am adverting a commercial theme.

All I can think of is that some of the links I added pointed to the developer theme site and on that site he may mention a commercial Plugin that people can add to the theme, but the theme is free and was the subject of my posts, not the plugin.

If you go on any free wordpress theme page, there is a link to the developer site, so I don’t see that being any different.

I appreciate if you can help me correct these post so they do not violate any rule.
Thank you again for the quick help, as I am only trying to help wordpress users here.

Yes I redacted that comment as soon as I made it – Sorry, I didn’t research thoroughly enough. Weaver Extreme is a free theme on www.ads-software.com.

I’ve also undeleted one of your recent reviews – but do note that I’ve moderated the links. This is the case for any one who posts a review on www.ads-software.com, we always moderate the links.

What about the posts in the support section, can these have the useful links in?
Again these are links to the developer theme demo site as well as his words on how to choose between the old themes and the new one.

The only 2 I see in the theme’s forum are pretty much exactly the same as your recent review. Why post it more than once?

    Thread Starter scrambler

    (@scrambler)

The posts in the support forum are the same as the review, The goal was to make sure people who land on the old themes page would see that message, as it is important they don’t start with the old themes but start with the newer one.
By having the info both in the review and the support section I can be sure new or existing users get the message.

Part of my question was also to know if the links could be left in for the posts in the support section (as opposed to the review), as they point to useful information to help people decide what is best for them between the old themes and the new one.

I also cannot post a new review for the weaver II theme as I already had an old one. I tried creating a new user to do that a few days ago and the user was blocked (scrambler2)

I appreciate your time on this

I’m not really convinced this would help many people on the forums. The Themes and Templates forum is meant to be there to support people who need help with their themes. I know people post to say “can someone tell me a good theme”, but that’s not really the point of the support forums. It’s there to help with actual issues people have, for example like “I have a bug in IE11”.

By the way I did notice how you were also targeting people who are “staring a new site”.

We do allow theme/ plugin authors (maybe contributors too) to post an advertising thread in their support sections, something along the lines of your recent review, but we don’t allow it more than once.

What I think you should do is edit your recent review so that it’s less advertise-y (still with no links) and then I’ll undelete one of your Themes and Templates threads.

Just make sure the theme author doesn’t also advertise this, or you may find your Themes and Temples thread will be deleted again.

I also cannot post a new review for the weaver II theme as I already had an old one.

Yes, the review system deliberately limits to one review.

I tried creating a new user to do that a few days ago and the user was blocked (scrambler2)

    That’s as expected per above.

    Thread Starter scrambler

    (@scrambler)

OK, I have removed the advertising part, stuck to the facts and mentionned the developer page without giving any link.

Given I cannot post a review in weaver II as I already have one, may be you can reactivate the post I made in that support forum and I will correct it in the same way.

Or may be you can unlock the scrambler2 user and the review I had made using it (that I will correct too)

No, it’s not a bug in the Review system. You are meant to only have 1 review per theme. Please do not try to circumvent the system.

    Thread Starter scrambler

    (@scrambler)

    No problem.
Are we good on the first part (below) with you undeleting the post made in the weaver II support forum following my correction of the Aspen review (an the post when undeleted)?
