Would be nice to use bit.ly for the url instead of wp.me

Every time it goes to the publish screen after a post it shortens the url with wp.me shortener but what about an option in the setting screen to bring in bit.ly api? Facebook like bit.ly links a lot better in terms of post format (wp.me never includes thumbnail for example). Also people are much more open to clicking on bit.ly links vs a shortener they are unfamiliar with and by vote wp.me is unfamiliar to a lot of people that don’t use WordPress themselves.
Just my two cents ??
