• I have created pages through page builder and have removed the sample page.

However when previewing my site, the landing page that appears is “Nothing found, Ready to publish your first post, Get started here”.

I would like to change the landing page to the homepage I have created using page builder however when I navigate to reading settings, there is no option for “front page displays”.

Do you have any idea why this may be and whether there is another method to change the landing page?

The pages also aren’t found when I use the permalinks, the settings for all of the permalinks are set to plain.

I would be grateful for any suggestions!

  • In order to change the front page, you need to go to the Customizer -> Static Front Page. Here you can create or set an already created page to be your front page.

Unless there is any specific reason otherwise, I would set your Permalinks to Post Name. It is just an easier URL for both you and your users.

    Hello Michael,

    Thank you for replying!

I don’t appear to have the option of customizer, when I navigate to customize, there is no option for a static front page.

Similarly, when I navigate to settings> reading, there is again no option to set a static front page.

Are you using a custom theme or any custom plugins? If so, try installing them on a blank site and see if the same issue arises.

I have used the twenty fifteen theme and plugins, do you think that the plugins are interfering?

Anytime a weird issue like this arises it is usually an update to a plugin/theme that is the culprit. On a side note, are you running the most current version of WordPress?

One thing to do is to deactivate your plugins 1-by-1 and see if the issue is resolved. This way if a plugin is causing the issue, you will immediately know which one and can begin troubleshooting from there.

Yes I am running the most current version at the moment (4.8.1).

I even reinstalled WordPress this morning to refresh it.

Thank you, I will have a go at uninstalling and reinstalling and see if that helps ??

    Hi Michael,

I have tried your method of uninstalling one by one however the option to set a static front page failed to appear.

I am working from the child theme so I went to the original theme and it appears that the original twenty fifteen theme doesn’t give the option to change the static front page.

Is there any method you can follow if the theme itself doesn’t have this option built in?
