    Hey Carolin,

No, it’s not a known issue at this point.

Is this the first time you try to install the plugin or did you use it before?

First: delete the plugin, download it again and reinstall it.

I noticed the WordPress site has some issues this evening, so maybe your download got corrupted in some way.

Please let me know if that fixed it!

    peace,

I already had tried to do that after I posted. I deleted the first plugin attempt, re-downloaded a new version of the plugin from the WP site and used the new download and tried again.

But unfortunately I got the same error message that I had before – “Plugin does not have a valid header”.

I have been reviewing for an answer on line, and it seems there are other reports of similar issues such as this that appeared back as far as 2010 for random plugins at random times — but I have not yet found any info about how to correct the issue.

I am really hoping to use the plugin — but can’t get it installed.

    Rolf —
I found one place on line that referred to another plugin – but the problem is the same.

It talked about doing this — I am guessing this is something the developer needs to do —

    Refers to — ‘pluginname/readme.txt’

    Inside this file it says,

‘Tested up to: 2.8.4′ or whatever WP version tested to. This number may vary but the important thing is that it shows at least as high as the current version of WordPress that you are currently using.

To fix your “Plugin does not have a valid header” problem, simply edit this number to your current version number or higher and save your changes.

That said, I am suspecting that the version of the plugin I am downloading may not be saying “tested up to 4.0” (the latest version).

The info referred to the fact when this change was made the plugin with the issue ended up working fine.

Does this sound like something that might apply to this situation?

    Hey Carolin,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Try to activate the plugin from the main plugin page (the listing with all the installed plugins).

That probably will fix the problem.

    Good luck!

That suggestion did work to get the plugin activated — thanks.
And once installed it did the job needed very fast and efficiently. ??

    Thank you.

    Hey Carolin,

    Awesome!!!

It has something to do with cache… not sure about the details.

Ah, well, I’m happy it works for you too now!

    Ciao!
    Rolf
