• Hi…I have a dought. Would you guys use a network for a billingual site?
I have a site that would be very similar in spanish and in English.

It would be best that the post be different cause the spanish is oriented more to consumers in my country for specific services, and the English is oriented for products that can be bought online specially for USA, because they are made there.

Would really appreciate your advice and help!
    Thanks!

  • Not sure what you mean by network or really what you are asking. Can you try to rephrase?

Hey Aaron – I have to build a site in English and in Spanish of my art and my photography. The fact is that I live in Buenos Aires, so I can offer my photography services just in this area.

But I want to promote my art world wide, and I offer my art work. on other platforms that make prodocts based on the users images.

Those products are only sold in USA and can be mailed around, but as you know, mailing is expensive, so the demografics of those products are mostly North America.

I′ve read about networks, but it seems to be that their are usefull wor way bigger sites. So I dont really know how to manage this billingual site I need.

Hope I explained it right. Thanks!

    I would read Multilingual_WordPress

Then decide if you want to use a plugin (which could cost money) or just make 2 seperate sites. Personally I would just make 2 different sites.

As experimented since 4 years when building multilingual websites, there is no single solution, it’s depend from the content strategy and the navigation you want between the translated pages. (and the universe for each language) (WP or plugin don’t translate, there organize data in CMS and display them.) You must also consider if the plugin modify or not the database adding tables. Technically (data model), I think plugins based on custom taxonomy (language) to assign posts and custom post types and using switching between .mo files (containing translation as in localization) for theme template terms are more interesting.
The plugins competition is great (more than 12 plugins identified) !
