• Hi All,

I have an issue where I cant save any mailto links. If i try and add a new link of

    mailto:[email protected]

after i hit save, the link changes to https://mailtoaa.com/

So we can see that its stripping the “@” and also swapping my “mailto” with “http:”

i see that others are having similar issues and one fix was to add the ascii code for @.

I was thinking that as i am running 2.0.5 is there a beta update somewhere which addresses this problem (i know this big has been logged somewhere – i found it whilst searching ??

    thanks all
    Ali

  • Are you doing the full code?
    <a href="mailto:[email protected]">email me</a>
    email me
Also turn off the wysiwyg editor.

    Hi Samboll,

I didnt make myself clear. I just clicking on “links” from the dashboard screen.

From there i select “Add link”

If i create a brand new link there and for the uri i type in your:
    email me

as soon as i hit save, the link changes to:

    https://&lt/;ahref=mailto:bobbob.com>emailme

    am i making sense?

Aah,,,well it will work if you turn the rich editor off and insert the link with the “link” button in the basic editor.

I would like to try that ??

where do i turn off the rich editor? I can only see an option for “Rich text editing for Users”, which i have tried turning off, but it doesnt help.

How do i convert WP so the admin interface uses the basic editor?

    many thanks
    Ali

Well, if I understand well, you are trying to add an email link in the Link Manager (admin > Links > Add Link). It will not work.

What changed? This definitely used to work in previous WordPress versions, but I tried it on 2.05 and he’s correct, it did not work.

Matter of fact, looking at the code, this absolutely should work. Something is broken somewhere.

    HI Moshu,

That is EXACTLY what i am doing ??

So will we have to wait for an update? is there not a cvs that i could try?

    Cheers
    Ali
ps it was working 100% in 1.5.2

It was working in earlier WP 2.x releases too.

    Anyone logged it to trac?

    HI HandySolo

    Is this what you mean

    https://trac.www.ads-software.com/ticket/3299

    Is there a fix?

Ali-butt, yes that is the problem I’m having too with the new upgrade.

It works if I disable WYSIWYG, but my users can’t do that all the time. ??

WPC – the Link Manager and the wysiwyg have nothing to do with each other. It would be nice if you read the topic before posting…

    (@wordpresschina)

Sorry, you’re right–I skimmed over the third post too quickly to see that he clarified this was about the link manager and not the wysiwyg (which also has a problem better left for another post).

How long do things hang out in bug-trac?

Until programmers/project leads evaluate, schedule and address them.
