• Sorry guys I hate to bring this up again, but I’ve searched everywhere and nothing works.
I’ve installed 2.1, and I’m unable to create categories or delete posts. I always get the famous “you don’t have permission to do that” error.
I tried installing both through fantastico as well as manually, I’ve cleared cookies from both IE and Firefox, I’m sure I’m in the Admin account, and still nothing works.
I should also mention my DB user has all required privileges.

Thanks alot for taking the time to read my post ??

  • I have the very same problem. No access at all to my admin area with none of the two users I had (‘admin’ and ‘author’).

In my case the problem came out when (for security matters) I changed the prefix to all the table names in the WP database, and the ‘$table_prefix’ variable value in wp-config.php accordingly.

From that very moment I LOST ALL ACCESS to the admin area and I’m now totally stuck with it.

I tried all the changes read in this post (pluggable.php, wp-ajax-js.php, disable javascript, double-check user values in mysql database,…) with no luck.

I’ve followed the opened bugs as well and ?? sad, no clue.

I think I’ll reinstall the lot and work on it again but I’m sure there’d be a explanation plus a solution to this issue , that should be rated as ‘major severity bug’.

Thanx in advance for any reply,
    hip

I would kinda suggest merging this thread into:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/105065

To better combine our efforts. E.g. perhaps find out the “common” part. E.g. Apache/MySql/PHP etc. version?

Anyways, the proposed solution here is definitely something I am going to try! Right now my blog is “frozen” ??

Thank you so much for this workaround sean.

I couldn’t get my wordpress installation working on an existing blog or a fresh install and kept having the same problems. This fixed has resolved the issue on both the upgraded installation and the fresh install. So happy right now, thought i was going to have to delete my blog and start all over again.

Worked for me aswell, keep up the good work!

I am having the same problem. I installed in on my Joomla site and it was working great. Then one day I started getting that awful message:

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Like you I am setup as a Super Admin.

Very frustrated and am about to give up on Word Press and use another application.

This same thing just started happening to me as well. I have had my sites up and running without any problems for a few months. One has been running almost a year. I went on vacation for a week. Came back and now I can’t update my theme.

When I try to make a change and click the update button I am getting:

You don’t have permission to access /wp-admin/theme-editor.php on this server.

I think my problem is any time it tries to write a file back the file system on my server is when it fails. This happens from any screen I try to do this with.

If the screen I am working with only updates the database then everything seems to be fine.

I even tried setting the file permission on my them to wide open as well as for all .php files but nothing is working.

I also tried disabling all pluggins but no effect.
