• When I set this self hosted version of WP up I set the Time settings to our Chicago time zone including our use of Daylight Savings. However, every night at 8pm it jumps forward to the next day when we are not yet there. Seems this was an issue in previous versions of WP also so I fail to see why we are being revisited by it again now. Please advise!

There’s no check to say you’re using DST… Whats your SERVER time?

Our servers are on EST (eastern standard time) which is 1 hour ahead but this does not account for the 4 hour time difference we are experiencing in our stats.

    Where are you specifying DST?

I miss spoke on that detail. We are using the standard “General” settings for this where I have selected “Chicago” as our timezone which is not being reflected in the stats end of day times that the stats are displaying which are off as I said by 4 hours.

Hwo did you figure out it was happening at 8pm?

    Thread Starter Wineblue2

    (@wineblue2)

Because the stats are being physically monitored during our Radio broadcasts and at 8pm CST the stat graph jumps to the coming date which we have not yet reached in real time.

What stats program are you using?

Has anyone monitored the system time on the server when this happens?

WPSD is what we are using and yes I personally have seen this happen on multiple evenings.

Sorry, I mean does the time change on the SERVER when this happens ??

    This is the plugin? https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/wp-stats-dashboard/

The page says to email [email protected] with the subject of “wp-stats-dashboard” to get help.

The server is a dedicated on the east coast of the US which is 1 hour ahead of our location and the Chicago setting I have in the General timezone setting. Our server admin has been monitoring it and it is on the right time for its zone. I also just got an update for WPSD so we’ll see if that corrects it as this is part of what we use for the Jetpack plugins.

Just to be clear: Your server admin is monitoring the time, AT 7:45pm through (say) 8:15pm and it doesn’t jump?

Do the pure WP Stats jump or JUST the wp-stats-dashboard plugin?

I’m trying to narrow down the possible vectors ??

I also own the hosting company which is supplying the dedicated server we are using, so yes he was monitoring the server at the times we were monitoring both site and server trying to sort out what and why this was happening. The only stats plugin which are loaded to this site are the WPSD. There is no WP Stats plugin.

WP Stats are a part of Jetpack.

WPSD is not, however looking at it, it appears it utilizes the statistics that come with Jetpack.

The question becomes “Is JETPACK’S stats causing the problem or is it WPSD?”

Turn on stats in Jetpack and look at them alone. Do THEY have the same problem? If no, it’s WPSD. If yes, it still might be WPSD, so turn it off and see if the raw stats work.

This does not have anything to to with WPSD.

    Cheers

Dave, I know you’re saying that cause it’s your plugin, but you know we have to debug and verify it’s not one of those crazy mixes of plugin + server + other plugin + theme ??

If it’s neither Jetpack nor WPSD then it’s possibly a server thing, but you have to work your way to debugging. Just because I’ve never seen it with WP or Jetpack doesn’t exclude them either.
