    Hi,

I had not jet tested it with WP 3.5.2 as it is not available by my web services provider (it tooks more of one weeks for having it usually available as WP is integrated in the control panel of the provider’s space).
I will test as soon as it will be available.

It took me seriously forever to figure out why 2 of my sites simply wouldn’t load anymore, or took forever to load. I found out by accident when I decided to create an extra WordPress site, added all plugins and instantly had loading issues while there was no issue before. Disabled all plugins, enabled one at a time and problem was found.

Although to add: even before upgrading to WP 3.5.2 the sites had loading issues. Disabling the plugin solved the loading issues.

After I upgraded to WP 3.5.2, I started getting 500 Internal Server Errors/connection timeout. I couldn’t figure out what the problem was, and finally asked my web host for help. They were able to figure out it was the NewStatPress plugin–as soon as it was disabled, everything was fine.

I had to deactivate newstatpress as well on my wp due to the same errors.
Very long loadingtimes / 500 Internal server errors.

Took me some time to figure it out that it was this plugin

    Hi everyone.

Just to confirm that recently, I’ve been having the exact same issues reported here: very slow performance with intermittent 500 internal server errors.

I’ve been yelling at my hosting provider for 24 hours and it turned out it was the Newstatpress plugin, not being compatible (or having some issues) with WordPress 3.5.2.

Before the upgrade, my site was a little bit slow with this plugin. However, I’ve always liked Newstatpress because of the detailed information it provides about my visitors, so I was able to cope fine with the slow performance.

UPDATE: I just downgraded to version 0.5.1 of Newstatpress (the latest I had archived) and my site is a little bit slow, but working fine. No more internal server errors. Check it out:

Man, took me forever to figure out as well! Glad to know I’m not the only one at least.

I’m now testing it with WP 3.5.2 in local installation for find a solution (WP 3.5.2 is not yet available in my websapces).
I hope to have soon a fix

We have confirmed using p3-profiler and our host that the slow page loading problem is connected with running of NewPressStat 0.6.5 under WordPress 3.5.2.

The effect of NewPressStat 0.6.5 under WordPress 3.5.2 on our French Mortgage site https://bestfrenchmortgage.com page load time was to increase the load time by around 25 seconds per page.

The problem seems to be that the plugin is making a call to https://wordpress.cloudapp.net/api/update that eventually times out.

We have never previously experienced a problem with this excellent plugin and look forward to a update tat fixes this issue.

    Best regards, David

By searching on Google I’ve found that there are now many people using other plugins who are reporting simillar problems relating to wordpress.cloudapp.net.

It may be that there is no problem at all with NewStatPress but a problem with availability of wordpress.cloudapp.net which is part of Microsoft’s Azure Cloud service which ‘provides developers with on-demand compute and storage to host, scale, and manage web applications on the internet through Microsoft? datacenters.’ https://www.windowsazure.com

Could it be that they have just missed a few words from the marketing on their website “Windows Azure – Unlimited Possibilities (to create havoc)”

Try new version 0.6.6 (fix works for PHP 5.x)

    Hi ice00,

version 0.6.6 is much better then 0.6.5 but still slows down the site.

I have page loading times below 0,5sec without newstatpress installed and activated

As soon as i activate it the page loading times are > 4sec.

If you are able to fix this as well it would be great. ??

I’ve now done some tests on https://bestfrenchmortgage.com with 0.6.6 and though the timings improve when tested with p3-profiler the real user experience is still very slow, especially in loading side menu bars.

There has been a simillar issue with the wp-maintenance-mode – details on this thread https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/wordpress-update-352-maintenance-mode-slow-down-site?replies=24 The problem was that on every page load of your site it will try and reach https://wordpress.cloudapp.net/ for some reason.
