    Hello,

We just updated to WP 3.8 and now the toolbar menu and posts/pages/about boxes have white/black lines under them. It’s fine when we’re installing a plugin though. It looks normal, but as soon as you get out of it and go back to back to the main dashboard, the lines are back. This is like this with all our sites as well. The only edit we did was on the wp-admin.min.css to make the admin logos 326px, but we reverted back and that didn’t fix anything. We haven’t installed any new plugins and we’re already de/reactivated our plugins.

    Here’s what we see: https://www.hampshirereview.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/menu.jpg

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Try re-uploading all files & folders – except the root wp-config.php & .htaccess files and the the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Yes, I agree with esmi, I suspect that your wp install is broken. Doing that manual re-install as described will give you a fresh core to work with.

    Esmi and Prometheus Fire,

That worked! Not sure why all of my sites had a bad install, that seems a bit odd to me, but at least this site is fixed now. The only downside is I have to rebuild all the widgets which on our main site is going to be very hard. We have SEVERAL custom sidebars and ads. Is there anyway we can avoid having to do that?

Glad to hear that you finally got this sorted. I’m a bit mystified as to why a core file upload would mess with your widgets. Or does this relate to switching to the default theme?

Well, maybe since I was switched to the default theme that’s why. I’ll try one of our other smaller sites without switching to the default theme and see if it affects the widgets or not.

Widgets are stored in your database on a per-theme basis, so they should all be restored when you switch back to your original theme.

Seems to be no issues. The widgets stayed this time. Thank you both for all your help! I’ll go thru and start fixing all our other sites. Have a great weekend and a very Merry Christmas!

Glad we were able to help you sort this out. ??
