WP 3.8 Post error (help!)

  • In the build on 3.8 everything was fine. single.php detected the category a post was in and served the correct layout for it… new installation … and now posts made are not recognized as the category they are in… so i created a post template using a plugin to provide it its access… new posts will not recognize the template.. the result instead is serving an attachment page that displays the featured image on the post.. i’ve never seen this happen before… no matter what i’ve tried i cannot get single.php to recognize any category assignment.. something funky is going on… site is installed after build ready to launch and now this… any perls of wisdom will be greatly appreciated

    well changed permalinks to month day year title and the category is recognized.. changed it back to post title and no it is not recognized… do we have a permalink error?
