• Updated to WP 4.7.1 yesterday and tried out 2017 theme. Ever since all other themes do not display right sidebar on right side of page. Instead it’s at bottom left margin. I have exhausted my (very limited) knowledge of WP and am seeking help as to how to proceed. Site is newworldwriting.net and is presently running an old theme (Reddle). Note that on landing page and mail menu pages I get the correct right sidebar. On all POSTS I do not.

    Thanks-

  • Hi,

First off make a backup of your theme then Go to https://www.ads-software.com/themes/reddle/

Download the theme and extract only index.php, single.php, page.php, sidebar.php and upload them to your current theme.

However you can download the theme and put in a new folder then start making changes that suites you.

Also in your admin panel don’t forget to check if you have actual widgets in Appearance > Widgets

It seems apparent that upgrading to 4.7.1 and installing and activating the 2017 theme has fouled up some basic code somewhere in my system.

Note that ALL themes now OMIT the sidebar on all Post pages. This has never happened before and FIRST happen when I installed the WP 2017 theme immediately after the upgrade to WP 4.7.1

I don’t think working on a theme’s pages will have an effect as the problem appears on ALL themes.

Rather, I think the problem is with a WP 4.7.1 file somewhere, or a file that changed with the WP 2017 theme and is still in the system, i.e. was not replaced when I changed from the WP 2017 theme back to one of my previous themes.

Any other ideas from other readers would be most appreciated.
