Several days ago, a client’s website recently updated to WordPress 4.7, with the Nimva theme, v2.0.5.
Today, while I was working on the website, the pages went blank. I turned on WP_DEBUG, and see errors like this:

Notice: register_sidebar was called incorrectly. No id was set in the arguments array for the “Blog Sidebar1” sidebar. Defaulting to “sidebar-8”. Manually set the id to “sidebar-8” to silence this notice and keep existing sidebar content…in website/public_html/wordpress-root-directory/wp-includes/functions.php on line 4091

There are a total of four sidebars created with this plugin, and an error for each one. I tried disabling the plugin, but the errors persist.

I updated the plugin, but still get the errors and nothing else on the front end. When I turn off WP_DEBUG, I get blank web pages again.

What’s most frustrating is that, after disabling the plugin, the errors persist, so I can’t even work on anything else.

I would really appreciate any help you have to offer.

UPDATE: I have removed all sidebars and the errors are gone. Unfortunately, the web pages are still blank. It would appear that a more fundamental issue is at fault, on not involving plugins.

I am going to show this as resolved, since I am fairly certain that it was NOT this plugin that caused the pages to go blank.

  • Hello bfrancoeur,

I know you marked this as resolved, but I wanted just to make a suggestion to check your theme – see if your site will start to work when default WordPress theme like 2017 is enabled.
If plugins are not culprit then theme should be checked.

    kind regards,
    Kasia
