• Hello All,

I’m new to WP, but have been working well with it for a few months. I have noticed that edits to theme options, pages, etc. are taking an excessive amount of time to save, and sometimes never do. Here are some facts:

-updated to WP 4.0 a week ago
-hosting on Fatcow, haven’t had issues thus far, but haven’t checked if this is their problem yet
    -only one site: edifyedu.com
-Using Boldial theme and visual site builder
    -have WP total cache plugin

This isn’t an ISP issue because I get the same results no matter what computer I log into (work, at library, at home). My other web browsing works just fine.

The admin panel is very slow and the loading of the actual pages (public facing) is slow. Any ideas about what might be causing this? Any steps I should take to test solutions on my end?

Please remember I’m a novice ?? Thank you all!

  • I’m hearing you. I upgraded to WP 4.0 for a site I’m doing for a client and the pages (backend and frontend) keep hanging. I think it could be a bug by the looks. We’ll just have to see how things unfold I guess.

You could always download WP 3.9 and install that, just depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. ??

How do download 3.9? I am 99% sure it is wordpress 4.0 causing the process slowdowns. I believe zombie processes are the root of the problem. Do you have this issue?

I’m noticing similar issues on quite a few different WP installations, each hosted with different companies. I suspect that it’s a 4.0 issue as well.

Having similar issues with WP-4 but they did not begin until after the upgrade was in place for a couple of weeks. Right now I am following up w/ our host provider (HostGator), and stripping all unnecessary plugins, both unused and disabled. Finding minor improvement on the back-end and will continue the trash & burn a bit further.

I am still having the 4.0 issue as well and this is more of an “FYI” post than a possible solution. We are running the Outreach child theme.

I, too, tried disabling some (not all) plugins to no avail, as well trying four different PHP versions, from 5.2 through 5.5.

I’m currently using PHP 5.4 as I’ve heard that WP doesn’t play well with 5.5. So far, I haven’t seen any differences in the way WP 4.0 works with the various PHP versions.
