WP 4.6 Page/Post Editor malfunction, split screen

    I noticed this problem in 4.6 which I cannot find explained anywhere, even the tech staff at my hosting company are baffled.

    In the page and post editor in the wp admin, instead of the normal wysiwyg and text options filling either way the entire text window, you get the scroll bar running down the middle of the text window, the html showing on the left half, white on the right half, and missing things in the upper part of the page like view page, button dashboard (partial)…

    I have changed themes, reinstalled themes, deactivated all plugins, and still the problem persists. Then I reinstalled wp 4.6 and had the tech dept check the wp core files and reinstall them.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Oh I am using the Jolene theme. But it occurs on the default themes too.

    But none of this affects the front end, so its a nuisance to the admin primarily.

    I forgot to mention that there are buttons for text and visual but they do not work, and they are buttons and not tabs….its totally bizzare..

    Then I reinstalled wp 4.6 and had the tech dept check the wp core files and reinstall them.

    Which means you did not upgrade to 4.6.

    Did you try with a different browser?

    The tech finally solved it during the night, by creating an entirely new wp installation and database and re-importing everything a new.

    What caused it? Do not know. But it began to happen after the SSL cert was installed on the site, since the wp installation and plugin installation was done before that, which is probably a no no.

    You can consider this resolved, then.
